ST. PETERSBURG - The Bay Area is known for being very Fido-friendly - with beaches, bars, and parks dedicated to man's best friends.
Ferg's Sports Bar & Grill is joining the 'dogs welcome' movement with the grand opening of Ferg's Dog Park and Grill.
Plenty of party spots already have a pooch-friendly atmosphere, but the folks at Ferg's wanted to set their park apart.
Starting Saturday, bring your faithful friend to Ferg's on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg and check out the new section dedicated to dogs. Dress your dog to walk in the dog parade at 4 p.m.
In addition to Ferg's food for people, there's now a complete menu just for doggies.
Start with some specially-made sweet potato chips or beer grain hushpuppie cookies.
If your furry friend is looking for a full spread, Chef John's fresh dog meals are made using fresh produce, a choice of fresh cuts of chicken or beef, and whole grain brown rice.
Dogs of all sizes can work off those calories in two sections of grassy, shaded play area.
Humans who come to the grand opening can enjoy free beverages (while they last), raffles, prizes, free samples, and entertainment. Listen to some live music or watch the Red Sox vs. Rays.
Ferg himself will be on-hand to say hello to all the hounds.
The grand opening of Ferg's Dog park and Grill is Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. Canned goods donations are appreciated.
